The Inner Devil

The street was covered in a bed of snow,
The rocks embedded in the wet soil.
As two girls made their way down the dark road,
They met a friend who said he’d lead them home.
A long walk they took to approach their home,
An even longer journey they had left,
For that man was not a very kind man,
But an enemy of their nice family.
As they entered their house with the weird man,
They grew suspicious of his intentions.
He then told the girls to pack their bags soon,
As they would not see their own rooms again.
He rushed them outside with a lot of haste,
Not being gentle to their tender souls.
Nightfall had killed the suns’ rays of beauty,
And it was darker than Hell down below,
As the inner devil that lives within
Was sure to come lurking about the night.
The car drove off into the frightful night,
The two girls hidden in the somber trunk.
After the car had come to a huge halt,
The girls did not know what waited ahead.
The trunk freed its latches, allowing light.
They were disoriented, shaken up,
Dizzy from the harsh car ride in the night.
The same man who had promised them safety
Would end their lives in sweet, sweet childhood?
The girls caught a glimpse of his awful eyes,
Glowing red with anger, shining at night,
Appearing almost devilish at dawn.
They held their stare, even as he left them
To go into his car and get a sharp,
Shiny dagger, decorated with blood.
He strolled over to them, uneasiness
Flooding his entire devilish home,
For he dropped the shining piece of metal.
He returned to the knife, holding it firm
In his tight, sweaty, tired, and hot grasp.
Yet as the girls watched in surprise, them safe,
The man stuck the blade in his beating heart.
He beat his cruel inner devil, dying
A death so spontaneous, God was shocked.
Rumor has it he was sick and crazy,

But the girls say he won his inner war.
